Q: What is your favorite animal and why?
Pikas, because these animals get to live in the most beautiful, remote, pristine crevices of the high-altitude

mountains. Humans only get to visit these places on special occasions, while Pikas call it home.

Q: How long have you lived out West?
I was born and raised in Pinedale, WY. After 4 years of college out East, I was more than eager to get back

to my western roots!

Q: What’s your best tip for living in Wyoming?
Take joy in the little things! Whether it’s driving to work and glancing out to see the beautiful mountains in the

distance or looking up at night to see the wide-open starry sky. Wyoming doesn’t offer the same material

entertainments that the rest of the country does. You have to take advantage of the free and simple pleasures

like hiking, camping, and spending time outdoors. You’ll never get bored in Wyoming if you have a good sense

of adventure!

Q: Describe a project you are particularly proud of completing.
Graduating from Cornell was by far the great achievement of my life thus far. Having never been east of the

Wyoming border and never even seen what life is like in New York, I found myself enduring heavy culture

shock when I started freshman year. I am very proud of the fact that I faced the challenge and not only

graduated, but even grew to love the place!

Q: What attracted you to a career in conservation?
I am a fourth-generation Pinedale native. My great-grandparents homesteaded in the Kendall Valley and began ranching. The wide open spaces, scenic views, diverse wildlife, and natural resources are things that I have grown up loving and appreciating. After earning my degree in Natural Resources, I knew that I wanted to use it to conserve the very values and resources that define Wyoming, my home. I am a strong believer in balance and my work here at the Wyoming Land Trust exemplifies balance between conservation and responsible development.

Q: What do you like best about your job?
Working with people who share my passion and interest in conserving Wyoming’s lands.

Q: What outdoor activities do you enjoy?
Snowboarding, backpacking, camping, boating, wakeboarding, and riding horses..

Q: What is your favorite western movie?
My favorite western movie is “All the Pretty Horses,” and my favorite western book is “Memories of the Kendall Valley”

by my great-grandfather, Richard Hecox.

Q: In what community organizations or activities do you participate?
Sublette County Softball League, Green River Rendezvous Pageant, Community Clean-up Day

Q: What is the trip you would like to take next?
I would love to return to Nepal to trek up to Everest Base Camp.
